The Vintage Stanley No. 18-1/4 Knuckle CAP Joint Block Plane Made in USA - 1952-58 is a hard to find block plane manufactured by Stanley Rule and Rule & Level Co. between 1952 and 1958.
It is a general-purpose block plane that is 6 inches in length with a 1 5/8 inches wide blade. It has a cast iron body with a black finish and nickel-plated trimmings. Features a distinctive quick-release knuckle joint lever cap.The "1/4" Difference: Unlike the standard Stanley No. 18, the No. 18 1/4 does not feature an adjustable mouth/throat plate.
